After finishing his tour of service with the Canadian Forces, Intelligence
Branch in 1999, JJ took the opportunity to study and mentor under
Dr. Robert Rohm, Chairman & Founder of Personality Insights
and Insights Institute. In 2000, he renewed one of his long time
visions and founded JJ Communications. Since founding the company,
JJ has spoken and influenced thousands as a Certified Human Behaviour

J2 Operations Strategic Debriefing Officer (2000-2004)

As the J2
Strategic Debriefing Officer JJ provided specialized
instructional services to the Canadian Forces (CF) personnel in
the field of Human Intelligence (HUMINT). Key activities inculded:
- Develop,
manage and deliver the Interview, Debriefing and Elicitation (IDE)
HUMINT training program for CF.
- Gather,
evaluate and organise material from various sources that specialize
in information concerning techniques of strategic interviewing
and related HUMINT training programs.
- Provide
HUMINT related advice on policy, procedures and programs to CF
elements tasked to conduct HUMINT related activities.
- Develop,
manage and deliver the Human Candidate Assessment Program (HCAP)
HUMINT screening program for CF.
- Manage the
J2 Strategic Debriefing Program.
- Prepare
written and verbal HUMINT reports as required by J2 senior staff
officer.
- Liaise with
OGD's in support of the DND Debriefing Program Activities.

Contingency Planning Group Y2K Intelligence Response Team (1999-2000)

As a Y2K
Project Analyst, JJ was responsible for examining, accessing
and reporting on potential foreign or domestic threats to Canadian
interest. JJ was personally involved in 11 different projects and
produced four papers, three of which were published. Other key
functions were to:
- Analyse,
produce and disseminate intelligence information through verbal
briefings or in written form.
- Maintain
liaison with interdepartmental, national and external agencies.
- Represent
Y2K IRT at Canadian/International Conferences on matters within
area of responsibility.

As Area
Analyst for Domestic Intelligence (J2SI), in addition to day-to-day duties (planning, coordinating operations
and training, administration), and the production of Security Intelligence
(SI) threat assessment (evaluating, analyzing and exploiting information
as it relates to the security of Canadian Forces personnel, establishments,
operations and to threats arising from terrorism, espionage, sabotage
and subversion), JJ carried out other key functions related to SI
such as:
- Liaising
with other intelligence agencies worldwide.
- Managing
the unit procurement program.
- Developing
and maintaining the classified database.

Canadian Division Intelligence Company (1994-1998)
Kingston,

JJ's appointment
as Officer in Command of Intelligence Operations
Platoon required exceptional long and short-term planning
skills and the ability to make things happen in stressful, resource-constrained
environments. His dedication, coupled with the quality of his work,
has done much towards establishing the credibility of the HUMINT
function within the army. He has been particularly successful at
motivating people with opposing or conflicting interests to achieve
a common goal -- both at home and abroad and with many cultures.
Key activities included:
- Managed
and controlled the army's exclusive HUMINT collection unit.
- Directed
and coordinated the integration of HUMINT capability within CF
operations.
- Initiated
and coordinated official intelligence association between Canada
and the U.S.
- Evaluated
personnel for career progression and training and prepared performance
appraisals.
- Reviewed
and investigated personnel grievances and recommended necessary
action to be taken by Commander 1stCanadian Division.

Military Intelligence Battalion (1996-1997)
Mostar,
Bosnia
First Canadian Intelligence Operator selected for operational duty to AMIB. As Team
Leader, JJ was responsible for the execution of sensitive
interviewing/debriefing operations in a demanding and hostile environment.
By combining my expertise and skills with drive and commitment,
he became one of the most effective Intelligence Operators in Bosnia.
- Planned,
coordinated and directed the extraction of two IPTF officers to
a safe area.
- Uncovered
sensitive operation by special police, avoiding an increase in
hostilities.
- Diffused
difficult situations due to war, ethnic cleansing, and the loss
of loved ones.
